Mesopotamia, the Middle East, Egypt, the Mediterranean countries and Western Europe. History, Anthropology, Archaeology and Philology. A geographic and disciplinary diversity which brings together researchers in Ancient History from the universities of Freiburg, Strasbourg, Mulhouse and Bern (CH) to work on common programmes. The trinational Masters has arisen from this fruitful collaboration.

Every year the network organises a doctoral and post-doctoral seminar, field studies and, every so often, colloquia in the four partner universities.

  • 1998-2006: Participation in an archaeological excavation at Biesheim / Kunheim (Alsace)
  • 2007: Launch of the tri-national Masters in Ancient History
  • 2009: Establishment of the series: "Collegium Beatus Rhenanus"
