REKLIP, REgio KLIma Projekt for "Regional Climatology Project" is the fruit of a Franco-German-Swiss, cross-border, scientific and interdisciplinary cooperation. Its objective was the analysis of the climate and of the atmospheric environment.
Research works have focused upon the climate of the Upper Rhine, which is treated as a whole. They were undertaken by more than twenty groups of international researchers coming principally from the universities of Basel, Freiburg, Karlsruhe and Strasbourg, but also from national research institutes and meteorological establishments. The data collected (overall climatological perspective of the Upper Rhine and detailed studies thereof) have been put together in an atlas which forms an important basis for town and regional planning.
